Good Morning, Auburn Family. Auburn men’s golf sophomore Jackson Koivun competes in this third PGA Tour event this week at the Farmers Insurance Open, which is set for today through Saturday (Jan. 22-25) at Torrey Pines Golf Course in La Jolla, California.

Koivun tees off at 1:02 p.m. CT on the first tee of the South Course alongside Niklas Norgaard (Denmark) and Kevin Velo (San Jose State). Golf Channel begins its full coverage of the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open beginning at 2 p.m. CT on Wednesday, Jan. 22.

🔼 Mounted the Offensive. No. 12 Women’s tennis finished Martin Luther King Jr. weekend by sweeping a Monday doubleheader with Western Carolina at the Yarbrough Tennis Center in Auburn, Alabama. The Tigers downed the Catamounts by a 4-0 score in the morning match and by a 7-0 score in the afternoon match.

Auburn started the day with a familiar doubles lineup that was also seen on Saturday and Sunday. Angella Okutoyi and Merna Refaat jumped out to a 5-0 lead on Chloe Schwarz and Andrea Redondo on court two before ultimately winning 6-1. DJ Bennett and Ava Hrastar won by the same score on court one to earn a quick doubles point. In singles, Hrastar impressed in her first match playing at the top of the Tigers’ singles lineup.

🔼 Must Be in the Winner’s Circle. Two personal bests and her first collegiate individual win has earned Auburn’s Kate Murray SEC Freshman of the Week. Murray was integral for head coach Ryan Wochomurka and the Tigers in an important dual victory over SEC foe Kentucky, 163-137. 

The Orange and Blue swept both sprints in Lexington against the Wildcats. In the 50 free, Murray’s personal-best 22.80 was just 0.01 seconds behind event winner and teammate Elizaveta Klevanovich. Twenty minutes later, the rookie would find the winner’s circle with a second personal best, a flat 49.00.

🔼 They Were Shoo-Ins.Auburn Equestrian’s Becki Banks and Dr. Hannah Loseke were named National Collegiate Equestrian Association (NCEA) Distinguished Alumni honorees.

Banks (formerly Brellenthin) was a member of the Auburn equestrian team from 1998-2001 when the team was still in its infancy, graduating in 2001. Among many of her community efforts, she received the AMEC Environmental Letter of Acknowledgement for FEMA work after Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Loseke was a member of the Auburn program from 2012-2016, including a part of the squad that won both the Southeastern Conference title and the national crown in 2016. She has spent time with Clinic With A Heart, People’s City Mission, UNMC Children’s Dental Day and Nebraska Mission of Mercy.

For the fifth time in program history and fifth straight season, ESPN's College GameDay covered by State Farm is coming to The Plains on Saturday, Jan. 25. College GameDay will air from 10-11 a.m. CT with tipoff between No. 1 Auburn and No. 6 Tennessee at 7:30 p.m.

Auburn is the only basketball school to host College GameDay the last five seasons in 2020, 2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025. The show did not air during the 2020-21 COVID season.
