Good Morning, Auburn Family. For the second time in program history, Auburn (15-1, 3-0 SEC) is the No. 1 team in the country in this week’s AP Top 25 Poll, with 60 first-place votes on Monday. The Tigers previously spent three consecutive weeks ranked No. 1 from Jan. 24, 2022 to Feb. 13, 2022.

Auburn, Alabama and Ole Miss are the only three remaining undefeated teams in SEC play. The Tigers are currently on an eight-game winning streak, which is tied for fourth-longest in the country with Alabama, Marist, Houston and Cleveland State.

Talking Tigers - Everett Teaford
When he came out of high school, Everett Teaford weighed 138 pounds. Most D1 schools told the left handed pitcher to go the JUCO route. Georgia Southern gave him a shot, and he left Statesboro as one of its best pitchers in school history.

Teaford’s pro career took him to the major leagues with Kansas City and Tampa. He also played in South Korea and the Dominican Republic. He spent time working as a scout for Houston and working with pitchers for the White Sox. Then, Auburn came calling. Teaford begins his second year as the pitching coach on The Plains.

🔼 MBB to State: Challenge Accepted. Seeking their ninth straight win, newly minted No. 1 Auburn hosts No. 15 Mississippi State in Neville Arena tonight at 6 p.m. CT on SEC Network.

Auburn will be without leading scorer and rebounder Johni Broome, who injured his ankle Saturday at South Carolina.

🔼 On the Move. The Auburn gymnastics team stands at No. 12 in this week’s RoadToNationals rankings following a full weekend of college gymnastics, having an average score of 196.363.

Auburn won the Lone Star Collegiate Invitational in San Antonio with a season-high 196.775, besting Penn State, Maryland, Arizona State and Temple.

The Tigers kick off their home schedule with the First Meet on the Plains on Friday, Jan. 17, hosting Arkansas at 6 p.m. CT.

Q: How long have you been riding horses and what was the name of your first horse? 
A: “I have been riding horses for as long as I can remember. My mom tells me it was always in my blood, which I think a lot of the girls on the team can relate to. My mom always had pasture ornaments I could play with, but my first pony was named Gucci.”

Q: Where is your favorite place to be on campus or around Auburn and why?
A: “My favorite place on campus has to be Samford Lawn. I take a blanket, my computer, and my dog and sit out there for hours doing homework.”
