Bodda Getta Daily Brew 4/16: Another Great Scott

Taliah Scott, one of the SEC's top scorers, joins Auburn WBB

Happy Tuesday Tigers. One of the SEC's top scorers will be joining Auburn women's basketball for 2024-25 as Taliah Scott has signed with the Tigers.

The rising sophomore led Arkansas with 22.1 points per game in 2023-24, earning a selection to the SEC All-Freshman Team.

"Taliah Scott is one of the most complete players in the game today," head coach Johnnie Harris said.

"I wanted to be surrounded by winners,” Scott said. “That's what Auburn has from the administration to the coaches and staff to the players.”

🔼  FinnTastic. Auburn fifth-year senior Finn Murgett has been named SEC Co-Player of the Week, the conference announced on Monday. On senior weekend, the Auburn veteran came up with two crucial singles wins and an upset doubles victory. Murgett has become the first Auburn player to earn SEC Player of the Week honors this season.

On Friday against Texas A&M, Murgett and Raul Dobai dominated the tiebreaker over No. 11 Giulio Perego and Togan Tokac in a 7-6 (0) win to clinch the doubles point for the Tigers. On Sunday, Murgett continued his dominance on the singles court by taking down LSU's Alessio Vasquez in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 on court two. The Tigers went on to win the match by a 4-1 score.

🔼 Helping Hands. As if being a part of a sixth straight SEC Championship wasn’t enough, sophomore Alexis Seiden added to her resume this week as she was named to the SEC Community Service Team.

The Washington, D.C. product has been actively serving in the community over her two years on the Plains, serving for organizations such as Project Uplift and Storybrook Farms.

🔼 A Winding Journey Towards His Dream. Like many athletes, Mason Maners can remember dreaming about lacing them up and making the game-winning play.

However, as a child, that dream had to do mostly with the football field.

Now, Maners finds himself as the starting left fielder for the Tigers and his journey to that spot has been anything but easy.
