🔼 A Family Affair. Call it an unofficial visit. As a newborn in 2002, Sammie Brown accompanied her mom, West Virginia soccer coach Nikki-Izzo-Brown, to Auburn when the Tigers hosted the Mountaineers.

“The first time I was on a college campus other than WVU was Auburn.”

Call it foreshadowing.

Eighteen years later, Brown left Morgantown, West Virginia, and headed south more than 700 miles to the Plains to study biomedical sciences at Auburn University and play soccer for the Tigers.

“I wanted a change. That was the main reason. My mom knew Auburn was a really good program. She told me to reach out to them. They watched one of my games and that's how that happened.”

🔼 Who’s Got Next? The celebration is over. Yes, Hugh Freeze won his first game. Yes, Auburn scored 59 points. Yes, there was a record crowd inside Jordan-Hare Stadium. But the Tigers had to turn the page quickly because the next challenge is far more difficult.

The Tigers will fly out to the West Coast this week to take on Cal in what will be the first meeting between the two schools. It will mark only the fourth time Auburn has played a game in the state of California.

With that comes a unique set of circumstances. There's the five-hour flight to get there. There's adjusting to a different time zone. There's the preparation that goes into playing a game that doesn't kick off until 9:30 p.m. CT.

🤔 TIGER TRIVIA

First time, long time. As we said above, this weekend will be just the fourth time Auburn football has played a game in the state of California.

Our question today is simple and straightforward—when is the last time the Tigers played in the Golden State?

🐅 ONE BIG THING

Save the dates. Auburn women’s basketball will play a total of 17 regular-season home games highlights the 2023-2024 Auburn women's basketball schedule. The Tigers will play nine non-conference home contests at Neville Arena along with four road trips before league play begins.

🎉 TRIVIA ANSWER

Answer: 2014

The last time that Auburn went out this far west was during the 2014 BCS championship game.

Bonus points if you knew that the last time the Tigers played a regular season game in the Golden State was in 2002 at USC.

🐅 Have a great Thursday, y’all.
